Building services: restoring EV charging functionality

Repair and reactivation of a twin electric vehicle charger
Location:
Client site
Project duration:
January–February 2024

Overview

ARH responded to a service request for a faulty twin EV charger. One unit was non-operational, reducing the charging capacity available to electric vehicle users. The aim was to restore full functionality quickly and efficiently to support the client’s eco-friendly transport offering.

The challenge

One half of a dual EV charger had stopped working, limiting access for EV drivers and potentially affecting the client’s commitment to sustainability. The client needed a reliable diagnosis and repair to avoid ongoing disruption and maintain user confidence.

Our approach

Diagnosis and repair – Our engineer attended site promptly and identified the fault. The repair involved installing two 32-amp single-phase RCCBOs and relocating the existing cabling into a new distribution board.

Verification with the manufacturer – After completing the repair, the engineer contacted Pod Point to confirm the unit’s successful operation. This added a layer of assurance for both ARH and the client.

The results

  • Faulty EV charger fully restored to working order
  • Charging capacity reinstated for site users
  • Quick response helped minimise client disruption
  • Reinforced sustainability offering through reliable infrastructure
