Overview

Not every job is a big build. Sometimes a site just needs something sorting, and it needs doing properly. A charity-run site in Walsall needed its boundary fencing replaced, as the existing fencing had deteriorated and the boundaries were overgrown. ARH Group was appointed to clear the vegetation, remove the old fencing and install a new timber feather-edge system, improving the safety, security and appearance of the premises.

The challenge

Dense vegetation restricted access to the boundaries, so safe working areas had to be created before any fencing could be removed. The new fencing also had to work with the existing concrete godfather posts, and the volume and weight of the materials meant waste and storage needed careful management on a live site.

Our approach

ARH Group planned the works in stages to keep the site safe, tidy and organised. This included:

  • Cutting back overgrown hedges and vegetation in stages to give safe access along the boundaries
  • Removing around 40 metres of existing fencing along one boundary, plus other deteriorated fencing and timber posts
  • Installing new posts, fixed to existing concrete godfather posts where suitable, and fitting and levelling new horizontal support rails
  • Measuring, cutting and fitting new timber feather-edge boards
  • Removing old materials and disposing of waste through the on-site skip
  • Sending the client daily progress updates, with photographs from our engineer on site

The results

The results

  • A more secure, clearly defined and attractive boundary
  • All new posts, rails and feather-edge boards installed to a stable, level standard
  • Safe, tidy working areas maintained throughout
  • Full visibility for the client through daily updates and photographs
  • A reliable partner for the charity’s ongoing upkeep
