Greenwich University engaged ARH to replace two ageing boilers to ensure continued delivery of heating and hot water services across their site. The project improved energy efficiency, reduced risk of failure, and integrated seamlessly with the university’s existing building management system.
The university’s existing boilers had reached the end of their operational life. Continued use posed risks of inefficiency, unplanned outages, and disruption to campus operations. The new system needed to be installed safely and with minimal impact on day-to-day activity.
ARH specified two Vaillant ecoTEC plus Commercial 64kW boilers, selected for their performance and compatibility with the TREND BMS already in place.
Our team worked during normal hours and followed all campus safety procedures, including inductions, risk assessments, and barriered access to the work area. The old boilers and flues were isolated, drained, and removed. New boilers were installed with horizontal flues, new condensate drains, and modified pipework. Flow and return pipework was insulated with foil-backed lagging.
The boiler controls were connected to the existing TREND BMS. All appliances were filled, tested, and commissioned to manufacturer standards, then registered with Gas Safe. Operational handover and guidance were provided to the university’s maintenance staff.
