Role overview

To deliver high-quality electrical maintenance and small works services across ARH Group client sites, supporting both the Facilities Management (FM) and Small Works (SW) departments as part of a blended working role.

The Blended FM & Small Works Electrician will typically spend three days per week supporting the FM department, carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and minor installation works. The remaining two days will typically support the Small Works department, undertaking electrical installation, alteration, refurbishment and project-based works as required.

The role requires flexibility to move between the two departments in line with operational requirements. FM duties will generally be undertaken at sites within a reasonable commuting distance, while Small Works assignments may require travel further afield and regular lodging away from home.

As a customer-facing representative of ARH Group, the Electrician will provide a professional, safe and dependable service across both workstreams, maintaining clear communication with clients, colleagues and management and ensuring that all works, job records and compliance documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance works across FM client sites.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and undertake appropriate repairs to maintain safe and reliable operation.
  • Undertake electrical installation, alteration, refurbishment and improvement works for Small Works projects.
  • Carry out minor electrical installation and remedial works as required across both departments.
  • Undertake routine inspections and general checks of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, breakdowns and project requirements in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work flexibly between Facilities Management and Small Works, typically on a three-day FM / two-day Small Works weekly split.
  • Travel to Small Works project locations as required, including regular lodging away where projects are outside a reasonable commuting distance.
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with relevant regulations, standards, specifications and company procedures.
  • Complete job records, reports, test documentation and other required paperwork accurately and within appropriate timescales.
  • Liaise with clients, colleagues, contractors, the helpdesk and project teams to support effective delivery across both departments.
  • Identify and report additional works, defects, risks, variations or potential improvements where appropriate.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials and company property in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Maintain a professional approach on client premises and undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and business needs.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a qualified electrician within electrical maintenance, facilities management, small works, projects or a similar building services environment is desirable. The successful candidate should have practical experience of fault finding, repairs, maintenance and electrical installation works, ideally across a variety of commercial or client-facing sites.
  • Experience of working independently, managing day-to-day workloads and adapting between reactive maintenance and project-based installation work would be beneficial. A practical and flexible approach is essential, together with the ability to work effectively with both FM and Small Works teams.
  • The role requires a willingness to travel and lodge away for Small Works assignments when required, while FM duties will generally be based at sites that are commutable. Experience within a mobile, multi-site or project-based electrical role would be advantageous.
